Let the Good Times Troll is a watch along storybook and dvd.  This is really a neat idea.  This Disney Junior book comes with a dvd that your child can watch as they follow along.  This is a great gift for any child that loves Sofia.  This book also has great illustrations throughout it.  It has easy to read text that you can help your toddler, or pre-schooler with.  This book is about Sofia meeting trolls that live under the castle.

Frozen
Reindeers are Better than People is really an adorable book.  This is a board book that is great for little hands.  The book even features plush antlers at the top that your child can touch and feel.  This book is great for children that are rough on regular books.  This book is all about why Sven is so great!

Scholastic Books and Back to School!

Disclosure - free sample provided.

My 8 and 10 year old will be going back to school shortly.  When do your children go back to school?  I am currently trying to get our home library of books in order, so that my children have a nice selection of books to choose from when they are reading.  Scholastic has a great selection of books to choose from.  They offer picture books, chapter books, novels, and more.  I love to add books to our library from Scholastic because my children always love them.  I always add new things as their reading level increases too.  We received a great selection of books from Scholastic that my kids are so excited about.  My kids take books with them to school to read too during free reading time.  I know these are going to be perfect to put in their backpack.

The Pokemon Deluxe Essential Handbook is a book that my 10 year old was so excited to start reading.  This is a great book loaded with facts about Pokemon.  The book features more than 700 Pokemon in it too.  The book also has great color pictures throughout it.  This makes it really simple for your child to identify what each Pokemon character looks like.  The book features Pokemon from every region.  It has Fairy-type Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon, Mega Evolved Pokemon, and much more.  This is a great guide for any child that is a huge Pokemon fan!

Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them is a great book for older children.  This book is kind of what I would call a spin off from the Harry Potter series.  The book is part of Harry Potter's reading text in the Philosopher's Stone.  This book is loaded with information on Magical Beasts.  The book goes beyond that though. This is actually supposed to be Harry's copy of the book.  You will see handwritten text throughout the book, and notes.  The notes are from Harry, and his friends.  This really makes the book fun.

The Unbelievable Top Secret Diary of Pig was a big hit with my 8 year old.  She really enjoyed reading this book.  The book incorporates silly humor that really helps grab your child's attention.  It made my daughter want to continue to read on and on.  The book is written in a diary format.  Pig lives on a farm, but he has a problem.  There are evil chickens.  Pig and Duck come up with a plan to solve the problem.

Race the Wild - Great Reef Games is a simple chapter book.  This book is geared towards children in 2nd through 4th grade.  The book is written at a 4th grade reading level.  This is the 2nd book in this series.  This book is an interesting read about underwater exploring, and they set out to battle on the Great Barrier Reef.  This is a book that teaches about determination.  The book is not just your typical chapter book.  We really enjoyed that it incorporated some pictures throughout it too.

The Baby-Sitters Club - Kristy's Great Idea is a graphic novel from the best selling series.  I read the Babby-Sitters Club series when I was younger.  I was excited for my daughter to red this book.  This takes the book, and turns it into something your child can visualize.  The book is loaded with great colorful pictures.  My daughter really enjoyed it.  This book is about Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia and Stacey.  It is all about their babysitting adventures.

These are just some of the great Scholastic books that you can add to your library for back to school season.  You can visit their website to learn more about all of the books that they offer.

My kids love to read.  I find that giving them a huge selection of books, and reading material is a great way to get them excited about reading.  They love to read comic books, and graphic novels.  I was recently introduced to Comic Bento.  This is a really neat idea.  Do you like to get surprises in the mail?  Comic Bento gives you just that.  This is a subscription box that sends you a variety of comics in the mail.  This is so much fun for my kids!  They never know exactly what comics will arrive.  The service is $17.50  plus shipping a month.  The best part is that you will get $60 worth of comics delivered to you.  This is a great way to add comics to your collection, and do it at a reasonable price.

We received our first Comic Bento box, and were so excited to open it up.  My 10 year old grabbed some of the comics immediately, and started reading them.  We truly were pleased with the great selection of comics that we received in this box.  What exactly came in my Comic Bento box?

Random House Children's Books - Back to School Review

Disclosure - free sample provided.

Are you looking for great books for your children now that they are back to school?  My 8 and 10 year old are required to read as part of their homework every night for at least 30 minutes.  I love when they pick out a book, and curl up with it to relax.  I think it is so important for children to enjoy reading.  We always have a great selection of books around the house for my kids to read.  Random House Kids offers a huge selection of books for children.  They offer books for all reading levels.  I received a few of their new releases and my kids loved them.

Emma and the Blue Genie is a great early chapter book.  This is written by the new York Times bestselling author of Inkheart.  Corniela Funk has done a great job with this book too.  This is a great book if your child loves to use their imagination.  The book is about a genie that is set free.  The genie is name Karim.  Karim is different though.  Karim can't grant wishes anymore.  His magic has been taken.  This book teaches children the importance of helping others.  Emma and her dog help the genie find his magic.  This book is geared towards children 7 to 10 years of age.  The chapter book is also made more fun with illustrations throughout.  I know my 8 year old really enjoys chapter books with pictures because it helps her really get into the book.

We still love picture books even though my kids are 8 and 10.  My 8 year old really loves to read these and look at the pictures.  Space Dog is a wonderfully illustrated picture book by Mini Grey.  The book is written in an almost comic book style fashion. This book incorporates humor throughout it too.  This is a story about Space Dog.  He is traveling through space and finds out that Astrocat is in trouble.  Space Dog really wants to help.  Astrocat and Space Dog are not the best of friends though.  This book great to read to pre-K or Kinder students.  It is also fun for older children to read too!

These are just some of the fun titles that Random House Kids offers.  You can visit their website to learn more about all of the books they have available.

5 in 5 for Every Season by Michael Symon with Douglas Trattner - Review

Disclosure - free sample provided.

I absolutely love when I find cookbooks that make cooking easy.  I recently started back to work, and have found it is a big challenge to get dinner on the table in time at night.  Are you a fan of Michael Symon?  I recently received a copy of Michael Symon's 5 in 5 cookbook.  This is a cookbook loaded with more than 165 quick dishes.  I love how simple these these recipes are.  They are not just easy, but they are really tasty too!

This cookbook is set up really nicely.  It has dishes that are related to different seasons.  I know that I cook different types of meals in Spring than I would Winter.  It is easy to find a meal for the season you are currently in.  These meals can be made any time of the year though.

Spring meals include . . .

Grilled Swordfish with Pineapple Relish, Couscous with Peas, Asparagus & Parmesean, Spinach Salad with Ham Steak & Fried Eggs, and many more.

Summer meals include . . .

Breaded Beef Sirloin with Zucchini & Tomato Salad, Fluke Milanese with Lemon, Shrimp in Coconut Broth, and more!

Fall meals include . . .

White Bean Crostini with Argula, Penne with Broccoli, Red Pepper Flakes & Prosciutto, Vegetable Stir-Fry, and many more.

Winter meals include . . .
Beef Tri-Tip with Olives & Capers, Spicy Beef Tacos with Fresh Salsa, Pork Tenderloin with Fresh Cranberries, and more.

This great cookbook also includes some fun holiday dishes.  I cannot wait to try some more of these.  The Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon sounds like an amazing holiday side dish.  The Leftover Turkey Frittata is an excellent way to use up those leftovers during the holiday season.

Which recipe would you want to try?

You can learn more about this book here!

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.

Submarines, Secrets and a Daring Rescue - Book Review

Disclosure - free sample provided.

I am always looking for new books for my 8 and 10 year old to read that hold their attention.  We recently received a copy of Submarines, Secrets, and a Daring Rescue.  This is a book by Robert J. Skeed and Robert A. Skeed.  It is from the American Revolutionary War Adventures series of books.  This is a great book if your child is learning about history too.

This is a novel for children that is about two twins.  They are 15 years old.  Ambrose and John are on a mission to bring gunpowder to the patriots.  My 10 year old fell in love with this story.  Then they end up in a bad situation.  They find themselves manning one of the first submarines.  My son thought this was really neat!  The book teaches about American history, but it also does a great job of making it fun to learn.

The book also features a glossary in the end.  This is really great to use to learn more about different terms from the book.  These would make excellent vocabulary and spelling words if you are homeschooling your child.

This is a great book if your child likes to read stories that are action packed, and full of adventure.  You can learn more about this book, and find out about ordering it on Amazon.

Disney Live - Three Classic Fairy Tales - Review

Disclosure - free sample provided.

Are you and your children big Disney fans?  Disney Live is a great show to see then!  Disney Live - Three Classic Fairy Tales is a great family friendly show that provides so much entertainment.  It is great for young children, but I enjoyed the show too.  My 8 year old was truly enjoyed the show!  This show is the perfect length for little ones.  They also have a short intermission.  This is a great way to take a break and get some snacks.  I suggest getting to the show a little bit early so you have time to get over to the concession booths and also find your seats.

Disney Live - Three Classic Fairy Tales incorporates music, dance, lights, special effects, and of course great Disney characters.  We went to the Disney Live show last year when it came to Vegas.  It was impressive.  We were also impressed this year.  I personally love that this is not a super lengthy show.  It is the perfect length for little kids that can's stay seated for long periods of time.

Disney Live - Three Classic Fairy Tales features classic Disney stories.  These come to life right in front of you.  These are the stories I grew up with, and it is really neat to see my 8 year old enoying them now too.  The show includes Cinderella.  This is a fun story that includes music and dance.  It includes great characters.  I love the singing mice!  They were absolutely adorable.

The show also includes the story of Snow White.  We loved this part of the show.  My daughter and I had big smiles on our faces when the seven dwarfs made their appearance.  They were really so much fun to see!

The last fairy tale featured in this Disney Live show was Beauty and the Beast.  We enjoyed seeing all of the dancing characters.  They even had dancing silverware.  They really did an excellent job bringing the beast to life.  Belle was absolutely beautiful too!

The end of the show had a finale where all the characters came out!  It was really cute.  Micky and Minnie even made a special appearance here!  I would definitely suggest checking this show out if it is coming to a town near you.  It is great if you or your child love anything Disney!
