I get so excited when my kids get into books and love them. My son has read a number of the Boxcar Children books by Gertrude Chandler Warner. I love there are so many of these books in the series too. It is hard for your child to run out of them. There are over 100 of them in the series. These are excellent books for young children. They are books that I really feel good about my kids reading. I know they are reading quality material when they read these.
About the Boxcar Children books. . .
These books follow four children that initially have nowhere to live. They find themselves living in a boxcar. The children range in age from 14 to as young as 6. The characters are interesting and keep the reading wanting to read more. The books always have some kind of mystery or problem that the children run into. These are great because it makes your child think of how to solve the problem.
Book 5 - Mike's Mystery
The story begins when the children are visiting their aunt. A house burns down that is close by and their friend gets blamed for starting the fire. The four children are on a search to help find out who really started the fire.
Book 6 - Blue Bay Mystery
The four children go visit a South Seas Island. The island is deserted, but they find out that they are not completely alone. Their goal is to find out if someone is keeping an eye on them.
Book 7 - The Woodshed Mystery
The children know that the farm where their grandpa grew up is loaded with stories. They are on a search for what really happened when their was a bad fire long ago.
Book 8 - The Lighthouse Mystery
The Alden Children get to stay in an old lighthouse over the summer. There is a strange person that shows up on the beach one night. They want to figure out who this stranger is.
