Blue Apron Review

Disclosure - free sample provided.

I often struggle to find new dishes to serve my family.  Blue Apron makes it fun and easy.  Blue Apron is a service that delivers super fresh ingredients to your house.  They also provide you with the recipes you need to create one of a kind meals.  The recipes are unique, fun and delicious.  The meals contain 500 to 700 calories per serving.  They incorporate special ingredients that you might not even find at your local grocery store.  The meals start at $9.99 a person.  The food comes right to your door and is packed in a refrigerated box.

I received a box of fresh ingredients along with beautiful recipe cards.  The box I received came with items to make Shrimp Risotto with Watercress, Ethiopian Berbere Chicken Thighs, and Beef Pad See Ew Noodles.  The recipes are easy to follow.  Most of them are less than 35 minutes to cook and prepare.  I even enjoyed cooking these in the kitchen with my kids.  This is a really neat way to get your child involved in cooking, but also get them to try new flavors.

Beef Pad See Ew Noodles
This is a flavorful dish with Chinese broccoli and birdseye chilis.  This dish was my personal favorite.  It was simple to prepare and full of flavors.  This is a dish that is a Thai and Lao dish.  It incorporates flank steak that has been stir fried with Chinese broccoli, noodles.  It is garnished with fresh lime and mint.  This dish only has about 515 calories per serving too.

Simple Shrimp Risotto
This was the first time for me to make risotto.  It was very simple and I was so pleased with the results.  This dish is made with arborio rice, onions, watercress, garlic, onion and shrimp.  My husband really enjoyed this one.  The risotto was flavorful and tender.  This dish is just 675 per serving.  It is a hearty meal and great served with a salad or fresh bread.

Ethiopian Berbere Chicken
This dish takes chicken thighs and loads them up with spices and exotic flavors.  It flavors the chicken with a chili based seasoning.  It includes cardamom, cinnamon, coriander, cumin, ginger, fenugreek, and more.  The dish is a stewed style of chicken that is served on a fluffy bed of couscous.  This recipe contains about 600 calories per serving.
