Great Holiday Gifts from Albert Whithman & Company

I am always looking for great holiday gifts for my kids, or the other kids in our family.  What kind of gifts do you give?  I love toys, but I also love to give something a little different.  Books make a great holiday gift, or stocking stuffer.  It is so great to see when children get excited over receiving books.  I know my children love receiving books for the holidays.  I want to introduce you to Albert Whitman & Company.  They offer a huge selection of reads for children of all ages.

The Boxcar Children

My 7 and 9 year old are big fans of this series.  My son started reading them a few years back and fell in love with them.  They are a series that he never gets bored of.  I love that there are so many books in the collection too!  The Boxcar Children book 132 - Mystery of the Fallen Treasure is a great book. This book is about a backpack filled with jewels.  It falls out of a plane.  The Boxcar Children are ready to find out what happened.  The Boxcar Children book 133 - The Return of the Graveyard Ghost is also a great read.  This spooky story s about whether visiting a grave will bring bad luck.  The Boxcar Children are ready to find out the truth behind this.  The Boxcar Children offers early readers too.  The Adventures of Benny and Watch # 5 - Benny Goes into Business is perfect for the early reader.  This early reader makes reading fun because it has colorful illustrations.  This is a great way to get a younger child excited about The Boxcar Children.  This story is about Benny going into business selling food.

Lulu

I am always on the lookout for books that will appeal to my 7 year old daughter.  This series did just that.  These are an early chapter book.  They are written on a fairly easy level, and they incorporate some cute pictures throughout the book.  Lulu and the Duck in the Park is about a girl named Lulu who finds a duck egg that is not in the nest.  She wants to keep the egg safe.  Lulu and the Dog from the Sea is about Lulu's vacation.  She encounters a dog living on the beach.  Lulu and the Hedgehog in the Rain is the 5th book in this series by Hilary McKay.  This book is about Lulu rescuing a hedgehog in a storm.

Zapato Power

Freddie Ramos Makes a Splash is a story by Jacqueline Jules.  This is a great book for those just starting to read chapter books.  The story is fun, and kept my 7 year old wanting to continue to read.  This is about how Freddie's zapatos are missing.  Freddie Ramos Takes off is another great beginner chapter book.  My daughter loved this one.  This book is about Freddie finding a strange box when he gets home from school.  Albert Whitman also offers Freddie Ramos Springs into Action and Freddie Ramos Zooms to the Rescue.

Super Schnoz

Super Schnoz and the Gates of Smell is a fun and silly read.  The book is a great chapter book that incorporates fun pictures too.  The book is about Andy Whiffler.  He has a massive nose.  This is great if your child is into silly books that make them laugh.  We loved this one!  It even made me giggle.
