My husband and I are very picky when it comes to pasta sauce. We tend to like more savory sauces for pasta. We have a hard time finding sauces that aren't super sweet that taste more like ketchup than pasta sauce. Dave's Gourmet makes a variety of different pasta sauces. We received two pasta sauces from Dave's Gourmet to sample.
The first sauce we sampled from Dave's Gourmet was the Butternut Squash Pasta Sauce. This sauce is very different than a tomato based sauce. It's very good too. I personally found it a much milder than a tomato based sauce. This sauce was a winner in New York's Fancy Food Show in 2009. I love that the butternut squash is combined with other flavors to make a really great pasta sauce. I enjoyed the flavors of garlic and also bell pepper in it as well.
We also tried the Organic Red Heirloom Tomato Pasta Sauce from Dave's Gourmet. I loved this variety. This is an excellent red tomato pasta sauce. I always have a hard time finding a good jarred red pasta sauce. I was impressed by this one! It is flavorful. It isn't too sweet. I also found that it wasn't too acidic either. We used this on ravioli and loved it. This sauce is a great combination of heirloom tomatoes, garlic and herbs. I love that this sauce is not just liquid, but it has some real chunks of tomatoes in it too. It tastes very fresh and you can truly tell that it is made with quality ingredients.
