The Olive Press Review

The Olive Press is located in Sonoma, California.  They make award winning olive oil.  They are unique in that they only make extra virgin olive oil.  I actually learned quite a bit about extra virgin olive oil from doing  this review.  Did you know that there are 3 types of extra virgin olive oil?  The 3 types are - delicate, medium and intense.  I was glad to have found this out because there are a number of different ways to use the different varieties.

I started using more olive oil in my diet a few years ago when I started watching what I ate.  I have learned to replace the fat in my diet that I was getting from things like butter and use olive oil instead.  I even use extra virgin olive oil on bread instead of butter.  I also love using olive oil to sautee veggies in.  It's great drizzled on a salad too with a good vinegar.  What is your favorite way to use extra virgin olive oil?

I received a wonderful sampler of extra virgin olive oils from The Olive Press.  I was so excited to try a great variety of their oils!  I received a Fiesta Sampler Pack.  If you aren't sure which olive oil you want to buy you  can sampler a variety of them this way.  This would also make a wonderful gift for anyone that is a foodie or loves to cook.  The Fiesta Sampler is not only available in olive oils, but it can also be purchases with balsamic vinegars too.  Another option is to purchase the multi pack and you will get some vinegars and some olive oils.  The last option is pretty neat too.  This includes some really neat products - lime olive oil, blood orange olive oil, white balsamic and more.

The Extra Virgin Olive Oil Sampler Pack comes with six different olive oils to sample.  I tried mine out on some really good french bread.  I was really able to taste the flavor of the oil that way.  I loved all of them, but honestly my favorites were the Master Blend and the Abequina.  The Master Blend is a medium intensity olive oil.  I just found that it had a really great flavor.  I loved it drizzled on salad too with some really good vinegar.  The Abequina is a delicate olive oil.  It has a lighter flavor.  This was really good when I used it to sautee veggies too.  It also had a great flavor and tasted very fresh.

The other olive oils that come in this sampler include . . . .

Italian Blend

Ascolano

Misson

Koroneiki

How would you want to use these oils?  What do you currently use olive oil on that you cook frequently?  We use it all the time and I am really excited to continue using these great olive oils from the Olive Press.  My 5 year old absolutely loved the Olive Press olive oil on her salad too with some balsamic.  She inhaled a huge bowl of salad with it dressed this way.  I am excited to try them more and in different ways.  It is amazing olive oil that has a wonderful fresh flavor!
