Do you ever have a hard time finding the right level books for your early reader? I had that exact problem. Early readers can get very frustrated when it comes to reading. If you find books that fit the level that they are at then it cuts down on frustration. My son is 8 and he started with the Bob Books sets to read. He now is an excellent reader. I continued to use these with my now 6 1/2 year old. We have had success with her using these too. Bob Books come in a variety of levels and you can use these to help your child succeed.
Bob Books has a variety of different sets. You can visit their website to find out what set would be appropriate for your child. I used the long vowel set when my daughter was having a hard time last year figuring out how to read long vowels versus short vowels. The set was excellent and really helped her. Bob Books start out very simple and they even have an ABC set and a Pre Reading Set. The levels advance too.
The Sight Words for First Grade is an excellent set. My daughter picked these up the day we got them and read 2 of the books. She did it without frustration too! I love that Bob Books always make reading fun and easy. The books are not overwhelming. I want to say that some early readers can be difficult for little ones. They might have simple words that they can decode, but then they throw in a difficult word like giraffe and I know my little one gets frustrated with that. The Bob Books Sight Words for First Grade is a set of 10 small books. This book will help your child know the 30 words that are incorporated in the books by "sight." The set also includes some helpful flashcards that reinforce what your child has learned.
The next set of Bob Books that I want to tell you about is called the Complex Words set. We are slowly working on getting my 6 1/2 year old into reading chapter books. The problem I have come across is tha and letter blends when she reads chapter type books she is challenged by the more complex words. The Complex Words set from Bob's Books helps your child read longer sentences. This set consists of 8 books. These books are a little longer. They are anywhere from 16 to 24 pages. However, the books are in no way overwhelming. My daughter gets very frustrated if she can't read a word in a book. She sat down with me and read one of these and was so proud of herself.
If you are interested in purchasing a set of Bob Books for your early reader you can visit their website. The website is very helpful in figuring out what level you need for your child's ability too. These are books that we will continue to use to help my daughter continue to strengthen her reading skills. Have you used any of the Bob Books to help your child read?
