I want to introduce you to Honeyville. This is a grain and foods company that has over 50 years of experience in the business. They have always had a passion for providing people with great customer service. The company was founded by Lowell Sherratt Sr. He initially began as a seed salesman in California in the 30's and 40's.
Honeyville offers a variety of great pantry products. They offer great items to keep on hand and store. My family buys many things in bulk, so this is great for us. Buying items like what Honeyville offers saves a lot of money over time too. They offer products like flours, grains, mixes, freeze dried products, and more. Many of these items are staples in my kitchen. Honeyville is committed to creating a quality product too!
I received a bag of Honeyville's Alta Artisan Bread Flour. This is a high quality flour that is great for breads. It is a high protein flour. It is easy to work with and is perfect for all of your bread making needs. The package comes with a great recipe for french baguettes too. The recipe is very simple. This flour is perfect to use in your bread machine as well.
I decided that I was going to make my husband homemade biscuits and gravy for dinner one night. I don't do that often, but I wanted to try the Honeyville Alta Artisan Bread Flour in my biscuits. It made my biscuits light and flaky. They were so delicious and this flour helped me make the best biscuits that I have ever made. You can find the recipe below.
Alta Artisan Buttery Biscuits
Ingredients
2 cups Alta Artisan Bread Flour
1 TB. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cold butter
3/4 cup milk
Combine the dry ingredients. Cut the cold butter into small cubes. Mix it into the dry mix and cut it with a fork until you have fine crumbs. Add in the cold milk. Mix it gently by hand until smooth. Place the biscuit dough on a floured surface. Kneed gently until it is no longer sticky. Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut biscuits with a 2 inch cutter. Place on an a cookie sheet (ungreased) and bake at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes.
Serve with butter and honey, jam, or country gravy.
