My children love to curl up with a good book. How do you get your kids to the point where they love to sit down and read though? I personally found that finding a series that they fall in love with is the best way to get them hooked on reading. My son started reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series when he was in second grade. My daughter is now in second grade, and she has started reading these too. There is nothing better than watching your child read these books, and hear them laughing hysterically. It really puts a smile on my face. My son fell in love with these books as soon as he read the first one. He read all of the books that were available in the series within just a few months. He is in 4th grade now. He now looks forward to when the new books in the series will be released. He was so excited when he found out that a new book in this series was released. Diary of a Wimpy Kid - The Long Haul is the newest book in the series. This book is now available for purchase.
Jeff Kinney has done an excellent job in the new book. My son could not put it down. He sat and read the entire thing in one evening. This book is written in the same style as the other books. It has an almost comic feel to it, but it is written in diary form. I love that The Long Haul also includes fun drawings throughout. This makes reading even more fun for kids! This 9th book in the series is about the Heffley family going on a road trip. The book is a fun read that follows them on their road trip disaster.

I do know Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series is one series of books that children enjoy. It is great to get them interested in books at a young age. This would be a great gift too!
