My kids love art. They are 5 and 7. They are just now learning how to draw and it can be very challenging. I honestly was never a great drawer and would have loved to have learned as a child. Barker Creek offers a wonderful book set for children that want to learn how to draw. It is called Draw Write Now!
Draw Write Now books are a series of books from Barker Creek. These books were developed to teach children how to draw in a simple manner. They teach children in a step by step fashion that is simple and not frustrating. I love that my kids can learn to draw by combining simple shapes and lines to create something amazing!
Each book in the Draw Write Now series teaches your child how to draw 21 different things. The drawings that they teach range from animals to moving objects and much more. My 5 year old fell in love with these from the minute we opened them. I attempted to help her, but she insisted that she could do it on her own. I love that! The first thing that she tried to draw was a zebra. She tried this all on her own and followed the step by step instructions. She did an excellent job and enjoyed doing this too!
I also love that the Draw Write Now series of books promotes writing as well. The books include sentences that go along with each drawing. This is perfect for my 5 year old that is learning to read. Your child can create their own fun story to go along with their drawing. My 7 year old son has just started to get into creative writing. This is something that he enjoys. He loves drawing the picture from the Draw Write Now books and then he enjoys creating a fun fictional story to go along with the drawing. Each book also gives some really great book selections that can go along with the drawings.
